The Valachian Village occupies the largest area of the museum. Our objective is to reconstruct the typical human residence in the countryside which has been reshaped by the local people for generations. Clusters of dwelling-houses and farmhouses alternate with tiny fields, fruit trees, little gardens, beehives and cattle pens. The area is animated by horse breeding, cattle breeding and poultry farming, however, the centre of attraction is the flock of sheep called ‘valaška’ which is recorded in the Book of the European gene pool. One of the farmsteads is used for all-year breeding of farm animals.
