The Neusiedler See - Seewinkel National Park covers a total surface of 9700ha of which 50% are Nature Reserve Zone. Here, nature remains untouched as there are no visitors allowed. The area that is accessible for public – the Conservation Zones – is divided into five parts.
The Conservation Zones: Zitzmannsdorfer WiesenIllmitz - HölleSandeck - NeudeggApetlon - Lange LackeWaasen - Hanság.
Here you can find the following habitats:
* Neusiedler See and its reed belt
* saline lakes that dry out periodically
* hay meadows
* pasture land
* small sand habitats

Opening hours :
The Information Centre is opened all year-round!
April to October: Mon to Fri 8a.m. -5p.m.
Sat/Sun 10a.m. - 5p.m. November – March: Mon-Fri 8a.m. – 4p.m.

- Pasturage of Grey cattle and Water buffalo on meadows close to the lake south of Illmitz and Apetlon
- pasturage of white donkeys on sand soils (embankment)
- pasturage of warmbloods on meadows close to the lake in the north of the Illmitzer Seestraße and in the area between Hölle and Podersdorf
- pasturage of Przewalski´s Horses in the area near the lake north of the Biological Station
- pasturage of Aberdeen Angus cattle on traditional Hutweide (pastureland) near the Illmitzer Zicklacke (a saline lake) and mixed herd of cattle near the Illmitzer Kirchsee.
- pasturage of German Simmental cattle on traditional pasturland around Lange Lacke
- pasturage of mixed cattle on meadows near the lake in the Zitzmannsdorfer Wiesen Conservation Zone.
