The flagship garden of the Royal Horticultural Society RHS, Wisley captures the imagination with richly planted borders, luscious rose gardens and the state-of-the-art new Glasshouse. Gifted to the Society in 1903, Wisley has evolved over time into a world-class garden. In the trials fields, the finest flowers and vegetables are identified from the countless new introductions. Elsewhere in the garden, cultivation techniques are tried and tested, and a series of model gardens answers the needs of a variety of conditions and circumstances.

Wisley is a very beautiful garden with romantic half-timbered Tudor-style buildings. The soil is mainly acid sand which is poor in nutrients and fast draining. There is a canal designed by Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe, a rock garden, formal and walled gardens by Lanning Roper, a country garden by Penelope Hobhouse and long borders by Peit Oudolf. Then there are long herbaceous borders, the alpine gardens, the model gardens, soft fruit garden, rose-garden, summer garden, winter garden and woodland garden, a fruit field, glasshouses and an arboretum.

Wisley has a large number of features, including the following:
- Vegetable garden
- Fruit field, featuring large numbers of apples, pears and other fruit grown in various forms.
- Model gardens, each of a size attainable in gardens attached to houses.

One of the glories of the garden at Wisley is the Fruit Field. Here, visitors can see a huge collection of fruit trees and bushes, including a collection of more than 600 apple cultivars. Closer to the scale of the home gardener is the Model Fruit Garden. In both, good cultural techniques can be observed, and there are frequent demonstrations of pruning and other activities.
