Welcome to Sugnall Hall and to our world of healthy horticulture. Running a rural country estate in the 21st century requires immense energy, a clear mind and the organisational skills of a Field Marshall. Long gone are the days when an army of servants, butlers and housekeepers ran around after the owners of such houses. Today, our small but extremely efficient team work side-by-side with us to ensure that all the jobs get done.

Over the last decade or so we have been involved in setting up a small business centre, bringing derelict buildings back into productive use and, in 2009, we started reinstating a wide range of fruit and vegetable varieties within the historic walled kitchen garden, which dates back to the 1730s. We are also working with a number of local schools with whom we provide a unique insight into food production and show how things used to be before farming became mechanised.

Sugnall Hall isn’t like any other historic house that you may visit because the main house is not open to the public. We’re not an attraction, as such, but a living, breathing rural business that welcomes visitors to many parts of the estate. We have open the gates to the historic walled kitchen garden and offer guided tours for anyone with an interest in history and horticulture. Parties can walk through our bluebell woods past a series of pools. We’re also going to be opening a new tea room in the Garden Shop that will be open to the public; our longer-term plan is to open a new restaurant in the refurbished and rebuilt vinery, which will use produce from the kitchen garden.

Opening hours :
- The Tea Room and Garden Shop are open 10.30am to 4.30pm, Wednesdays to Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays, from Good Friday to Christmas Eve.
- The working areas of the garden are open at weekends only, at no charge, but at visitors´ own risk.
- Guided tours available at 11.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays, giving information on the history, the garden as it is now, and on its future.

Offer :
The Sugnall Estate offers pupils an excellent opportunity to learn about many aspects of the natural world. We welcome school groups of up to 60 children to explore the parts of the estate so that they can really connect with the environment.
